ignition barrel

not really sure where to post this as this is my first time on uk-polos.
anyway my ignition barrel isnt workin properly! wen the keys inserted n turned all the light light up as thy should but when you turn it that last bit, nout. no starter motor! ive traced the fault to the barrel but how do you remove it to replace or can it be "pikeytech'd" to mkae it work again. look forward to hearing what uk-polos has to offer

welcome to the site, we are all quite helpful here :D


i wouldnt think that the ignition is faulty, because you say you can turn the key and all lights work, i would say either that the solenoid is nackered on starter motor

or

are you using a replacement key, which hasnt gone a chip fitted to it or has the key been taken apart and the chip been removed.......
just a thought

have you opened up the key to see if it is in there little black retangle thingy located near to blade..

The engine would still turn over, start then immediately stop running if the transponder wasnt present. Its more than likely to be the ignition switch, as the starter motor feed runs directly through it.
