goliath or space?

Post by Hardcore »

hmm. i wanted the AC-evo, with two space 12" in. (space2). its in a bandpass box alreay built. the only problem with this could be that it only has one port for connections, so i would have to run them both of one amp.

so i went into bass junkies the other day, to seee what they reckon.

basically he said:" f**k that s**t, have this: the hifonics goliath".
he offer me two 12" subbs, with amps to power them, in a custom box in my boot, with a power cap, and wiring kit. which he would fit forr £1100.

i was lyk.. wtf. sound as a pound. so i said yer ill get back to you.

i then went to .. crap forgot the name of the place now. motoroworld! thats the one lol.

and they said:

"f**k what bass junkies say, hifonics is just a step up from toxic, which are s**t."

and he offer me. the 2 latest JBL subbs, with 2 amps. for the same price and said it would be better. but with no box, or power cap. or wiring kit. or fitting lol. but he promised it would be better.

so then i askd his opinin on vibe and he then said:

" ok jus go for vibe. that AC-evo is well better than the JBL and hifonics."
jus because of the quality.

buttttt. the AC-evo is a bandpass box, and wouldnt give me the vibrations, or the loudness of bass i wanted. but s**t hot quality..

so i realllllly duno what to do here guys lol.

the vibe ac evo:

tell you what dude, you come to see me and i will let you listen to my setup and i will do you an awesome stereo for a lot less cash that would keep up and make you lose your breath

vibe is not so good dude, and while hifonics are a step up from them (more like a giant leap!) i think money could be spent better elsewhere! as i said, my amp and subs come to a grand total of 600 quid, an uprated battery would be an awesome idea too and the 1/0 gauge cabling would be way better than anything they would do for a grand and a bit

please before you spend your cash, come have a listen and you will benefit from a lot of knowledge ;) (and save cash/get more for your cash!!!!)

i'm only up the road at ripley so not so far away! :)

p.s power caps don't do diddly squat so i saved ya some cash straight away, anyone who says they do does not know about car audio indepth!

p.p.s read my sig for credentials ;)

Trust what he says Hardcore, you don't get a 160db+ system by just throwing subs and amps in. A LOT of work, time, knowledge and effort is required

ahh yer i know all that. i know that the cap only holds the bass beat for lyk 2 beats. i already knew all that ;)

i also knew. that other subbs, placed in the car with correct air spacing aorund it would sound as good. thats why i was asking advice.

dumdum, i wont be able to come along untill after the 25th of this month. but we can sort sumit out for then yer?

a cap doesn't even do that IIRC, it can even stress the battery MORE than leaving it alone. the cap has to get it's power from somewhere. A 2nd battery is far better.

100 is way too much to spend. you can spend half that on better brands as dum-dum says, nip over to talkaudio and you'll see some good stuff for sale.

I've spent about £300 2nd hand on my setup (ignore wires, wood and labour), and it's a much better sound than £600 would get you brand new.

[quote="david burton"]a cap doesn't even do that IIRC, it can even stress the battery MORE than leaving it alone. the cap has to get it's power from somewhere. A 2nd battery is far better.

yes indeed go for a second battery
but i do agrre with power caps
without my two 2 farad caps i would worp the plates in both of my batterys AGAIN
yellow tops are a nice battery
but not wen u run them too hard as it gets expensive
so i did fall into the power cap thing and it works for me

and also just because you have only one output from a box with two subs doesnt mean you have to run 1 amp you can run 2 like i do
or just buy another terminal block from motor world for 8.99 wak it on
