Strange ABS pump problem....

I have a polo 1.2 2002 plate and the ABS pump has decided not to turn off even when the engine is off and key removed.

The garage had to recover it today as the battery was drained and for the time being they have disconnected the pump.

They think that the pump will need replacing however I would have though that if it is not turning off then this will probably be an electric problem else where?

Is this a problem that any one else has come across? Can anyone offer any advice?

Since I posted this the power steering has gone, three warning lights have come up and the speedometer isnâ€™t working..... any advice?
