hi guys
this is my first post, i came across this site by chance and hope you guys can shed a bit more light on some of the problems that im having with a recently acquired WV polo 1.0l 1999 T reg model...
1. The clutch doesnt operate very smoothly, difficult to engage gears, sometimes have to struggle to get it into gear..when the clutch pedal is pushed in and then released it has a very jerky movement..like its binding..not a smooth release.
2. its got some original WV alloys with 175/80/13 tyres....when driving at about 60mph steering shakes..could be wheel balancing etc..im gonna get that checked out.
3. the steering wheel is not centred properly, when driving in a straight line the steering wheel is not straight.....could this be due to the alloys ?
4. Cannot get the horn to work....checked the fuse and thats ok ?
any help and advice will be appreciated.

Problem 1. When your trying to change gear does it make an awful noise like your griding the gears? Try adjusting the clutch pedal i had this problem in my previous car adn after i adjusted it it was like brand new
.
Problem 4-Horn? You say the fuse is ok? Have you changed the fuse just incase, and if you havent got a Airbag in your steering wheel can you remove the VW centre badge to get to the horn itself(can on vauxhalls) to make sure the wires are all in tact, also check under the bonnet to. (wires/connectors)
thats all i can help with mate hope it makes sense and helps

With issue 1 I would replace the clutch cable and make sure it's routed properly in an S shape and attached to the bulkhead.
I'm with 'dragon_green' regarding issues 2 and 3 - if the steering wheel is off centre it's because the tracking is out. Also check your tyre pressures.
For issue 4 check for voltage at the horn (behind the bumper passenger side) when you press the button. If you haven't got a volt meter remove the horn and connect it across the battery to test it. If the horn is ok and there's no voltage then you'll have to re-trace the wires back to the switch :-/
