Hey guys, my mums Mk7 FSI is having a few problems.

First is a weird rattle/vibrating noise when driving at low speeds. Sounds like a sort of spring or something. Generally happens once you let the clutch out.

Second is rust! Yes on a 2 year old car! There is a 1cm bit on the bottom of the passenger door started rusting, and the point on the sill directly below it has also started rusting

no idea about the rattling - or it could be dreaded dashboard rattles lol

and with that bodywork, take it back to vdub and get that paint warranty abused!

rattling could be the thrust bearing, sometimes you can get an unlucky one that rattles, my mk4 had that

oh yea and i'd get the rust fixed on warranty, mk7's have a 12 year warranty against corrosion

Ditto!!

Our 2 year old has that same problem.....I think. On the driver's side.

Looks like the door hinge has dropped and it's catching at the bottom on the sill as you close / open it. Our abrasion mark is about the size of a stamp.

This is unacceptable for a car that's only done 24K (in our example). My Corrado has only just started doing that at 160,000 miles.

We're taking ours back to the dealer for rectification. It should be covered under warranty? I suspect it's a design flaw and there's probably others out there that haven't spotted it yet, especially on silver cars!
