Lupo GTI Engine AVY

Post by sorted »

Is the Lupo GTI AVY exactly the same as the Polo GTI AVY engine - air con etc etc ?

If i have a Lupo GTI AVY engine and Gearbox, does it use the same mounting points in on the chassis ?

I know the lupo is 6speed and hydraulic clutch - but thats not so much of a problem to change the pedal box etc over...

Main thing i need to know is if i have a lupo gti engine + box will it fit straight into the exisiting points on my polo gti !

Cheers!

I believe the answer is no...

But it wouldnt take much to get it to fit....fabricate some adapters, perhaps weld them inplace....jobs a goodun!

Whereabouts are you located?

Glasgow, but i have access to a garage that my mate runs. It was just to see if i would be able to do it over a weekend - engine box out - new engine box in without any change !

I thought it was just the polo gti engine didnt fit the lupo gti box (diffrent holes/bolts) , was uncertain if lupo gti engine and box - was just a straight bolt in job !

I may be wrong...stranger things have happened.....

Would deffinately be a nice conversion to make...

Lupo GTI engine with 6 speed gearbox, add a supercharger and jobs a goodun...

If I had more space in my garage I would offer to do the conversion and supercharge LOL! 8)

LOL, the short term plan is get the lupo engine & box in and working, long term would be to get more power from it!

an extra cog would be welcome, are the 6 speed lupo gti boxes better/stronger than the 5 speed polo gti ones! anyone know how difficult it would be to just swap the gearbox? what would be involved? would this be a better option than a re-con if your box/clutch is shot?

This has been discussed to death!..

The lupo box is NOT a straight swap for the polo one..

The bell housing mounts are different, as is the gearbox mounting point...

Also the lupo has a hydraulic clutch (not an issue but something worth considering)...

I dont know if you could fabricate an adaptor plate to mate the polo engine with the lupo box..

If anyone has a spare lupo 6sp box im happy to give it a try

LOL. I know the Polo engine doesnt mate with the lupo 6sp box.

I just want the lupo engine and box in the polo  Its likely i will end up trying to put my lupo engine and gbox into the polo over summer.
