Crunchy Clutch Pedal
Crunchy Clutch Pedal
Right, only had my Mk5 for 3 months but already regreating it with the number of things going wrong with it!!!
I am getting a stiff (ooo er) clutch pedal. It makes a speaky noise at certain points on the travel of the pedal. I have had clutch cables go like this on previous cars and had them replaced and the problem has gone away.
Does anyone know if this is likely, or is it the dreaded gearbox failure I keep reading/hearing about?
Alterenatively could it be that the floor is falling through, the wheels are coming off, or it is about to self destruct?!?!?! After the last 3 months ownership anything is possible! And its only done 34,000 on a 51 plate!!!
Any help with this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info.
Just called my local dealer. They said that it might be replaced FOC, but i would have to pay the labour charge to have look which is £88ish and hour. They also said that taking the gearbox out would probably be the only way to find out and that takes a couple of hours.
mmm, this is going to be costly!!!

Nah the pedal box is just where the pedals are - you can see if its creaking on the weld with a bright torch. It should be done totally FOC if you car is under 60k miles. Call up and have another moan lol! Say VW HQ said it is 100% good will - i used to work there, and it always was.
Gear box shouldnt have to come out, unless your clutch release bearing is worn.

Re: Crunchy Clutch Pedal
mines the same, really hard to press down. Had the clutch, the cable and gearbox done the end of last year....still the same though
Any ideas, do you think its the pedal box? The cars now covered 77k?
