New plates?

In need of a new set as my rear one has water inside it, not to sure whether to get some pressed plates or not?
Heard quite abit about fines for having them..
Will i still be fined if i have the original plates in the boot and can change them if i get pulled?
Also weres the best place to get normal plates made up?

I'd say get pressed plates, you can get them with the GB band instead of the D to make them less obvious.

I've never had any problems with mine down here, and I've owned them for over 6 months and have been pulled over in that time (they didnt even bat an eyelid at them).

i've never understood the technique of having other ones in your boot just in case you get pulled, if I was a policeman I certainly wouldn't be
more lenient towards anyone if they did that. If anything I would've thought it worse. It's almost saying "I know I'm doing wrong, but I'm going to continue it anyway, until someone makes a fuss". best bet it to play igonorant in that situation.

In terms of getting other made, i dunno, check Halfords? See what they have to offer

all number plate are illegal, unless they are the standard font and size, spacing, i have been pulled loads of times, with non standard plates over the years and never had a fine, just 14 day tickets,

DO NOT CARRY PROPER PLATES IN CAR AS THEYH WILL GIVE YOU A TICKET, cause then they know you have done wrong and should know better.

Go for the black and silver but they illegal now

Any plate is illegal if its not the standard plastic one any variation is considered illegal, the black and silver weren't, as old beetles and other older cars had them as stock back in the days but now theres a law against them too

Is that not only for cars registered on 1st Sept 2001 onwards? Or does it apply to everyone now?
