Vagcom help

Post by colour_concept »

recently ive been getting the epc and check lights coming on on my polo. it started as a intermittant problem (once every couple months - would usually go away the next time i start the car)

however recenetly it has been coming on virtually all the time. its been like this for the past few months,. i havent noticed any difference with the driving of the car and itseems to be running fine. sometime the light may not come on but generally about 85% of the time it will.

i was under the impression it was the lambda but not sure about it. can anyone confirm what the fault is from the log below

Address 17 -------------------------------------------------------
Controller: 6N0 920 904 D

Coding: 00441
Shop #: WSC 00788

any help is much appreciated.

i halved the baud rate i think it was and it worked for me, i couldnt connect to the ecu at all before. i cant find the guide on the vag com website either, it told you how to sort communication problems

can anyone shed some light into this? been driving around now for 3-4 months with both the engine check & EPC light both on and havent noticed any major problems - drives as normal - although it does feel a bit slow (even for a 1.4 :D). how serious is it?

The top one is obviously a map sensor fault, are you running an induction kit? This may cause that code to come up. The immobilizer one just means it failed to start at some point. The bottom one suggests the car has been drivin with the speedo unplugged at some point. I'd clear all codes, leave it a week and read them again. The epc light usually comes on when a brake light bulb has gone. Worst case is all the brake lights are out which suggests brake light switch.
