It may just be down to your driving style.

When I drove mine everyday back in Summer, my fuel consumption was decent.

But now, being in uni I only see it 1-2 weekends a month, and I now get alot less mpg. Purely because I can't get enough of driving it how I like to drive it.

When you drive it everyday you tend to think more about economic driving. When you drive it on occasion you drive how you like.

That's my view anyway. Could always be something wrong with alot of things already mentioned.

With regards to driving - ragging it/lots of cold starts & short journeys/town driving/traffic jams do the worst for your fuel consumption. The rule is to get into as low a gear as possible without labouring the engine. I usually go around 1800rpm at the very lowest which is around 40mph (indicated) in 5th. It can pull up to 70 from there in around 7 or 8 seconds iirc

Yeh, my rule is if I'm trying to keep a good mpg I try drive around without hearing the BMC

Below 40 is 4th Territory, otherwise you're just wasting fuel on trying to get more torque out of the power band

I hate people who do 35 in a 40. It means I have to change down to 4th and waste fuel

There have been times where I've gone 30. That's only when scraping the bottom of the tank though 8)

Thanks, will check the sensor on the weekend... I have had the back brakes checked to see if the are sticking and they aren't so i guess it must be the sensor...
