I've got a 2007 3 door 1.2 S Polo and the car only came with the original front speakers. I want to get some a bit more powerful, but have no idea what to get! Front, back, 6x9s? Just need some advice really. I want to keep the head unit and don't really want to spend too much!
I'd be grateful for any replies =)
What speakers do I get?

DONT go to Halfords, they have crap selection and will rip you off.
Look to get some 6.5" components for the front, if you have sillyness amounts of money then something like these will be lovely!

but if not, then the already recommended Alpine Type-Rs are a great choice.
Are you planning on running these just off your headunit or also looking to get an amp to run them?

Yeh, DONT go to Halfords.
If your budget is around £100 I'd strongly recommend getting those Alpine type-Rs, I've got them and they're great for the price. Ideally you'd want to run them off a seperate amp (for they perform better with a bit more juice in them), but they'll be just fine off the headunit.
Max - It's not that simple no.
An amp has one wire running to the positive terminal on your battery (with a fuse along the line), and another to a ground point of your car. It then has a remote lead that connects to your headunit (to tell it when to turn on), and an RCA lead connecting to the headunit. you then connect your speakers onto the correct terminals of the amp.
That's just a really basic and vague explaination, it's something you need to research before hand so you know what your doing, there's loads of info on the internet about how to set one up.
It's not that daunting though honest! Once you understand how it works its' well easy
