Some advice please guys

Post by tinkerbelle »

Hello,
I have recently got a polo 1.4CL I was given this from my mother in law.
She has had it from new, engine wise its well looked after - very low mileage, but on the outside its a little tatty - she never washed it once in 10 years!!!
Here are my problems:
Rust on both door edges
Half fist sized rust patch just under drivers door
Rather large rust bubble near edge of sun roof
Very dull colour
10 years worth of dirt in the inside

i have managed to clean up the carpets really well with about 4 hours of hoovering and the dash and interior trim has come up ok
My other half had cleaned up and resprayed the wheels for me - I was rather impressed.

Anyone have any ideas to bring this car up tp looking good again - if I can sort out the rust patches I would be a happy bunny! I have been told not to worry about the one on the roof unless I want a complete respray :(

Also I have the origonal VW mats whih I want to keep but I cant for the life of me get them cleaned up properly

Any help or advice would be superb :)

I respray in a diff colour would cost twice as much, as they have to totally strip out the car inside and out to do it.

A respray in th same colour would just involve spraying the outside, so they wouldn't remove as much

I want that DUB Badge!

(back to the post) - Erm id say a respray, after 10 years or having never been washed i think the colour will have faded so having the pannals done and sprayed will just make the car patchy. So i agree a full respray is most def the only way to go.
