im not a mechanic but got a polo :D "thermo"

jus got a mk4 polo and havin trouble with overheatin

my fan wasnt workin but changed the little sensor in the radiator and that works a treat now but im still overheatin

the bottom hose is red hot and the top hose is stone cold and reading up on the forum is sounds like it could be the thermostat

but i dont know where it is lol so could someone please tell me (a picture would be a great help)

Yes it's deffo a dodgy thermostat - no doubt shut in 'closed' position as per your description. It is situated on the left hand end of the cylinder head. As well as a new 'stat, you'll need a new sealing ring. Torque setting for the 2 bolts are 7lbs. Make sure you insert 'stat the correct way round when refitting. HTH.

By the way, what colour green is that? I quite like it; you don't see many in that shade.

the colour of it is citrus luks brilliant in the sun but not so good on gloomy days lol

Sorry I don't have any pics of the exact location, but the 'stat is located behind the DIS Module (what the plug leads go into) & it's the part which has 2 hoses.
