Rust :(

Post by DanOliver »

I recently noticed some rust on my passenger door well which is annoying as I have only had the car a week or two and I didn't notice it before.

I was just wondering whether any of you guys think its worth ringing VW? What might they say? and will it cost me anything? I have heard there is a 12 year corrosion warranty, would this be covered?

Many thanks :)

Did you buy it from a VW dealer Dan? Even if you didn't, it will only cost you a phone call to find out about the warranty & whether you're covered or not.

Not from a VW Dealer no, just a garage that sells 2nd hand cars.

I did plan on phoning them, just wanted to see what some other people thought about it and my chances of getting it done under warranty.

Well, if it were me, I'd ring the garage first & see what they say. If it's a reasonable place they should sort it for you. If they don't, don't go there again! I'd still ring VW as well though to see where you stand with warranty.

I can't see the garage wanting to fix it for me, the guy has been a pain just getting the car in for its cam belt change, keeps putting it off and I have already payed for it :o

will ring VW tomorrow see what they say!

Thanks for the advice.

Should never pay for work until it's been done mate - ANY reputable place wouldn't ask you to.

well I would normally agree, but I didn't have any money to pay for the cam belt at the moment, so my dad payed for it and just paid at the same time as we payed for the car.

its being done today :D just gotta hope that they phone me when its done and they actually do it! I will not be too happy if I don't get my car back today

I also hope they remember to plug it in to the computer and have a look to see why that engine check light was coming up, they said he would and that it would probably be the sensor :D Fingers crossed!
