Anyone driving slower?

Post by s-l-i-x »

With fuel prices at silly prices now does anyone find themselve driving slower? I have. I used to drive with a heavy foot, but barely go over 2.5k revs now :( and try to stay at 55-60mph on motorways.

on the way to work i'm allways late so only end up getting like 40mpg rather than 55mpg on way home

Yep, I have. For the last 2 or weeks now. Instead of doing my usual 80mph and getting 50mpg on motorways, I've started sticking to 70mph and am now getting 58-60mpg.

I've noticed though by doing this that not many people are passing me, as it seems they have decided to do the same.

The government will have to bring the fuel prices down soon, as they'll be losing money from speed cameras

hmmm they will go down i think as we are the most over-taxed country in europe on fuel. But they will have to add on tax to something else. My humble opinion is over-tax fags ALOT that will save NHS money and lower fuel prices :)

Yea I've actually started sticking to the speed limit, I actually did 45-50mpg today which is a first. But mopeds and the VW up and my next biggest temptation as fuel will just keep rising.

I was thinking about getting a diesel but hate the tractor noise and remarks! I only get about 30mpg which compared to my 1.0 polo's 45+ is a big step down :( I predict £1.50 by the end of year

lol@your 8mpg if you floor it :D but I suppose the smile on your face from the turbo makes up for it :D

think i still tend to drive normally. a little while ago a tried driving like i was driving miss daisy. no more than 3k RPM. but i returned better fuel economy the next week driving normally! how strange!

I think i'll be driving the car a little slower from now on, just dropped it a bit more for inters!

Can't say I've particulary slowed down, life's too short.

And with the way the global economy is currently, I can't see oil prices coming down anytime soon.

I've not changed how I drive at all tbh. Cost me £33 to fill my talk with V Power from halfway to completely full last weekend :( . I remember a few months ago I could get 30L of V Power for £32, now it costs me £38, shocking.
