How much are you paying for your insurance?

Post by avfcnutter »

I'm 17 passed my test in april and my insurance for the year was £1500 on my dads policy, i reckon i might of been ripped off a bit, how much are you young guys paying? Think the main reason for it being so much is the fact that the 1.4 is goup 7

That doesn't seem that bad. there are absolutely tonnes of threads on here talking about insurance, just use the search function at the top to have a look through.

First time insurance for a group 7 car is never going to be that cheap. depends on year of the car, postcode and a host of other things also.

hi mate i pay £174 fully comp but i am 35, 2001 match
i am going to give my 6n2 to my niece when she passes her test but have been looking for quotes, and found it cheaper for her to be on her own policy, same as you the cheapest i found for her fully comp was £1489 if i was a named driver it was round the same value, i think its just to do with your age and not that much experence, insurance ppl known when the car is used by the young person if there mum or dad is a named driver and then they load the policy which doesnt help

but there are ways to reduce your premium
try reducing the annual mileage, have been doing so for about 5 years now brought mine down to 3500 per year but no doubt u'll do that in a couple of months
look for a different way to discribe your job if you can
park your car on drive way or in a garage
join a vw owners club, see if they have discounts
ect ect,
also if you use a search engine for insurance and compare to your renewal and find it cheaper, lie a little bit to your insurance and say you have found it cheaper on such and such but dont take the pee say bout 15-20 quid and 9 out ten times they will price match
hope this helps ,you wont find until ur bout 25 before the premiums start to fall

is it just me or has insurance gone sky high, my original quote on my match was £2000 at 17 so put it in parents name and got it for 800 fully comp

cant believe some people are paying 2k for 3rd party thats silly money!!!

im only just 20 with 0 ncb and my insurance is like 600 on my cupra 1.8T insurance process is ridiculous!!!
