Recently I've noticed a howling or whining noise coming from the back of my 6N2, most noticeable at speeds betweem 60-80 KPH (37-50mph). It's definetly not coming from the tyres as I changed tyres and still the same problem. I'm thinking rear wheel bearings, but I welcome your opinions or ideas on what the noise is or could be.
I didn't really think about it being the exhaust, but I guess it is a possibility. One more thing I should have explained is that this particular noise seems to come and go as I accelerate and slow down and seems to be coming from the rear left side.
wat about when u change gear? does that affect the loudness of it? as in when ur in first and it starts getting louder then move up to second does it quiet down a bit then get louder as u pick up speed?
depending on what kind of sound its actully maiking, it could be the exhaust, wheel bearing or something else. get them brtoh checked out. my wheel bearing made a sort of houl/groan when it was knackered.
My old fiesta's rear wheel bearings were making a noise similar to the one you described and it was only noticeable at speeds over 30. I would definitely get it checked out if in doubt, I was told by the garage I part exchanged it to that they were just about ready to shatter... :/
