Help Please? Throttle problem with GTI

Post by LozVW »

Guys,

Can you help? Been driving the GTi today and its being driving like a pig. When the car is warmed up to operating temps if i use the throttle it feels like its bing held back and then lets go, then holds back... like a sticking thottle but i know it cant be that.

So is there a common fault known on the GTi (i have the 2001MY).

My thoughts were air mass sensor?

The 'check engine light' flashed on for like a second. Not sure if a fault code would have been recorded in that time.

Any help would be a bonus, I'm still under warranty from the selling used dealer but he is fair distance from me.

Sounds like the temperature sensor. If the light came on, a fault should have registered.

Mine does this too, but very very irregularly. Only happens once every few months or so?

At about 2000 revs or so when trying to accelerate, as you say it feels like there is something holding the car back and it stutters a bit, then everything releases and it drives normally! I've had no check engine symbols though...

Ive checked the history of the Polo and the previous owner had, its only done 52,000miles now, but at 49,000 it already had the Cambelt tensioners and crank sensor replaced?

confused now :( surely the sensor would not fail within this quickly?
