My first car !

Post by dweebs »

Hey all,

Just got my first car - 2001 6n2 1.4 Match (engine AUD) 48k on the clock

Have attached a few pics - as you can see it's a little basic but i'm hoping to spend the christmas hols sorting everything out !

My main list of things to do will be :

GTi Splitter (maybe skirts too ?)
GTi Honeycomb grille
Paint front bumper strip
Spray front grilles matt black
Respray rear bumper as it's got a small crack and a few scratches - have got an HVLP kit at home so might as well make use of it.

ALLOY WHEELS !

Ideally I want to pick up some BBS RXIIs 15s or 16s although I saw these on ebay which i thought would be perfect :

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 3DWatching

(they have sold but the seller is giving me first dibs if the winner doesnt pay up !)

I can't think of much else at the moment so will keep you all posted on my progress

Welcome to the site mate, good place to start. Can't go wrong with a Black 6N2 8)

Unfortunately you can't get GTi sills, they are part of the car itself, the only other option would be aftermarket kits, but they are very limited in decent designs.

Check what the stud pattern is of those Wheels if your really going to go for them. You need PCD 4X100 for the Polo, Vauxhall are normally different if I'm not mistaken so check that first! He also doesnt mention a width, which is also important

just to reassure you, looked thru the ebay page, pcd is 4x100 so you're safe on that front. as tim said, check on width before actually accepting them, also means you know what size tyres to put on the damn things!!!

p.s. welcome :D

Didn't manage to get those wheels in the end. However.....got some 15" RXIIs on the way ! Woooooo !

Also won an Alpine V12 5 channel amplifier on ebay, now just looking for a head unit and some speakers.

I'm having a tough time finding a splitter from the scrappys- anyone know where I can get hold of one ?

GTi one? try PMing Dan (bbspolo) on here, he's breaking a GTi or two, and may have one. If not, you can get them new from vagparts.com or the dealers. Apparently they've gone up in prive though :(

Spoke to Dan - the latest GTi he's got in has a massive front end shunt - so have emailed vagparts.com to see what they can do.

Also - if you take a look at the picture of my lower grille - is it the same at the GTi one ?

Cheers

Nope... the gti lower grills use the same honeycomb design as the gti grill. Yours uses a diamond shape design gill.

You could buy the lower "centre" honeycomb grill however if you were to also get the honeycomb "sides", they only come with foglight cutouts meainign you either need to install fogs or leave the 2 side grills as a diamond shape with the centre using the honeycomb shape.
