Post by Polo96CL »

Does anyone know if the 6n2 has a varient of colour shades? I'm planning a dash conversion but would like to know whats on offer colourwise, with black obviously being the best :)

Cheers

Only the one, which was black :), although I do believe there may have been a lighter grey one for the lighter interior that existed in a few models.

Cool cheers mate, really looking forward to this.

Do you how I would fit a 6n2 steering wheel instead of the mk4 one (it would look naff if I had the nice dash but poor steering wheel). Also, I don't have a passenger airbag but the dash does, how would this work?

I wouldnt imagine an airbag is something you could retro fit. So it would just be a case of having it there but serving no purpose.

Have you researched as to whether a mark5 wheel fits onto a mark4? If not, I'd get looking through wheel companies such as Momo to see if they make any kind of boss that would fit them, or a custom one. Or better still, ask Jarno!

Hi tim.

I've not had the opportunity to compare them side by side or even try one out so wouldn't have much idea on wether they fit. I'm not keen on the momo ones so i'll either have to run the original (:( ) or hope for the best with a boss.

Yeh, the easier option would be to run something like a Momo, (which is what I would do if it somehow kept the airbag!)

It maybe worth contacting them or compnaies alike to talk about possible boss' though.

I think I may need to get someone with a mk5 wheel and see wether they can be fitted.

If it wont fit straight on, youll need a Mk5 steering rack fitted.

There are two dash tones i've found so far, the original dark bluey black and a grey/cream colour.

Prefer the black for sure...

Yeh the cream is rare mate. So even it you did want it, it would be alot harder to find! The easiest to find would be from a GTi, they're constantly being broken, as they're crashed reguarly and kept for breaking because of the sought after appeal.

Where did you get the picture of the Red 6N2?! It's thrashed!

I know jay_6n2 is getting his grey parts sprayed, would be silly if they were rare surely?

Yeah the red one is from a breakers, may be the dash I get. Should clean up nicely, although there is always this one instead:

However that one looks a bit faded :|

Yeah true, i'm hoping I can get some feedback and prices off some breakers then get the parts bought in. Got till the summer to get the bits so no rush, need a set of clocks nearing 62kish (prefer GTI). May even be able to fit the mk5 handbrake if I can get all the bits to change it over :)

Will be an interesting mod thats for sure, just wish people would get back to me with some info :?

There was a person on ed38 that did dash conversions but I'm not entirely sure if it was the TT dash that he put in or the 6n2 one.I'll have a search for you!
