has anyone got the how to guide to modify the headlight switch to enable fog lights without side lights??
i can remember u have to remove a pin or summatt ???

Well, I was one that looked and thought WTF? I still think that I am of that opinion, have I missed something - VAG and others have put a lot of thought into what could be doen to avoid plonkers driving around with annoying foglights on when they are not needed - and the law takes that same view - so why are you trying to be different - I'm just curious, that's all! Personally I think that it might be a good idea to also use these front fogs as day time driving lights, but the EU rules wisely require you to have the front fogs, or headlights on if you don't have front fogs, before switching the rear fogs on.

Well said that man! Please don't drive with your fogs on when not needed - it is irritating, annoying and causes frustration to other road users.

according to my handbook they are called driving lamps and i wish to use them when driving, the police tried to prosecute others and failed because of this so what is ur problem ????

further to my explaination of the law i will add that as i have upgraded my sidelights to leds they are bright enough to illuminate any fog or mist that arises where i live in mountanous north wales. i dont live in a city, its coastal and rural and we get fog, mist on a daily basis

i want my fogs/driving lamps on without sides so that i can drive safely and if that annoys you tuff titty.
the amount of cocks who put main beam on in fog still amazes me maybe thats my problem as in ooooh i want to see a white wall ????

i drive on side lights so as not to annoy people in single story cottages who are in bed when i drive past

if i lived in a city that had street lamps i wouldnt need lights at all but thats a different story

but unless u want to walk a mile in my shoes pull ur neck in and get a grip on the difference of weather conditions in our nation that might actually neccesitate (apologies for spelling if wrong) fogs or driving lamps to be used independantly of other lights

i eagerly await the responses or apologies

btw to me a plonker is one who makes a statement without knowing the full facts...............ie making a plonker of oneself

An awful lot of postings by you on this subject, strange! I live up North and we also get lots of mist/fog rain - and I live well above sea level. Taking a few of the points that you have mentioned - you need to drive without side lights - why, is it because you have swopped out the miserable little bulbs and fitted LED clusters with many nasty points of bright light - this light output will be uncontrolled wrt distribution so their only purpose will be to act as markers - but in a better way than the original little bulbs did - while annoying other road users under normal conditions and it seems causing you problems with scatter off the wall of fog/mist, something that the original bulbs woulkd not. Maybe you should just give up on the LED cluster and revert back to miserable bulbs until EU legislation mandates that we need to run with "running" lights and so these "side" lights can revert to being "parking" marker lights.
