How to connect LED strobes to 12V DC??`

Post by RandonGUY »

Hi I have a control unit with two wires coming out of the rear, for some flashing LED strobes.

I have bought a 12V DC adaptor off eBay to plug in to a cigaretter lighter, have wound the black wires together and the red wires together. But nothing happens.

How can I connect it up to a 12V power supply? Thanks.

:)

I know this may sound basic, but did you have the ignition on when you tried it?!

Hi, I did it today, so if anyone wants to know...

Disconnect the battery.

Remove the cigarette lighter, just give it a good tug lol. (Remove the bin tray next to it first, though. Makes it MUCH easier to do.)

Then snip off the centre and earth/-ve wire.

Connect the live lead to the middle wire by winding it around, and claming hard with some pliers, ditto for the earth/-ve wire.

Hide all of the connections behind the cigarette lighter, then re-insert it.

Sorted! :)
