No i wouldn't change the plugs at 20k. They've got another year or two yet.

Get the oil done, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter if the 9N3 has one? Check the pads also just to be safe.

Then next year look at the fuel filter, brake fluid change and coolant flush.

since this topic is already open. my service is also due in about 3000 kms. i intend to change the oil and i was thinking of buying Motul racing oil. Does it really make a difference ? not it performance but in preserving the engine.
if yes, does anyone know what type of oil i should get ?
is it better to use the one that VW recommends for 1.8T (Castrol) ?

Change the oil and filter every 5000 easy job, then every 2 years change brake fluid and plugs if platinum! t/belt at 50000 to be safe!!! Best to be over causious and if you change your oil like that your engine will be immaculate ! thats what i have done and its at 20000 now and still like new in oil cap etc!! :P :P :P

all they will do at vw on that service is change oil and filter and visually check brakes! the first service was just a check!!!

Some Castrol oils are good - maybe check their website, the Motul racing oil - I don't know anything about it but I'd not fit a racing oil as it would probably work well for short periods - probably not the sort of driving your engine will see in real life - maybe also. Have a look at www.briskoda.net and see what some one there suggests - maybe he advertises there opieoil I think is his name, he has a list of all oils suitable for VAG.

had my 20k service done at awesome gti and i did request other parts to be done, for my piece of mind, oil is also changed as is the oil filter every 5k as whitepolo says, on a tuned engine, servicing becomes more advantaneous to keep the engine sweet

oil
oil filter
engine flush
ecs magnetic sump plug
air filter
plugs
pollen filter
fuel filter
anti freeze topup
general lubrication of all doors and opening parts etc
and the usual service inspection

thanks for the advice m8s ! i'll try too keep this in mid.
i'll keep in mind the change of the oil filter every 5000 miles. (i now have almost 7000 and i didn't change it) in the owners manual says it has to be changed at every 9500.
