Rocker Cover

Post by Andy1.6 »

I just want to know the implications of taking the rocker cover off.

Is it ok to take it off to polish it up and then pop it back on again? Is it just a case if undoing the allen/star keys on the top or is there something more complicated?

Thanks

It's very easy to do, you just undo the three allen keys on top like you said and it pulls off. Just be careful when you do it that you don't damage the Rocker Cover gasket..

Your recommened to change the gasket after doing it, and dont forces the washers out on the allen key otherwise you might damage them and need to replace them, but if your polishing or spraying, buy the 3 allen bolt washers and a new rubber gasket and treat your polo :) Its straigh forward like dan said.

Got mine off right now Andy, just took the 3 bolts off and wiped up any residue. Then cleaned it up using kitchen towels and cotton buds and made sure it wasn't going to get me covered in oil when I was handling it. Only on 3M paper but going to go onto some very fine grain when the polish is coming through. Try not to get the underside wet as any moisture will go into the engine :)

Gasket came off with the cover, must have been replaced in the past as it was like new when I cleaned it up :P
