ride height - what do i do?

Post by Jeff GTi »

right, my dilema is that i want my polo to sit lower than it does, and i have 2 options, just not sure which is the best option, im looking for advice

im looking for between 5 and 10 mm lower all round

car did and still sits like this

Image

option 1 - seing as i already have eibach coilovers, the option is the mondeo drop links to avoid noises and dip the front down further and remove the rear adjuster collar so as to cheat lowering by about 5 - 10 mm all round
live with the good yet firm but perfectly matched ride quality

option 2 - junk the coilovers, fit gti shocks with just the H&R springs as this setup is also about 5 - 10 mm lower than my coilovers sit now, fit the mondeo drop links to avoid noises, and live with the difference in matched spring rate and damper rate, im guessing handling wont be as sharp, but ride quality would improve slightly

what would you guys do

on a plus note, i have ordered my vw shark fin off mike m and it will be being built probably tomorrow :D so that will be on next week, cars been fully overhauled today and waxed again, lastly i cant decide weather or not to go for the blue motion front valance either, help with this one too please

cheers

In my opinion Jeff

i'd stick with the Eibachs over switching to the H&R springs. Think you'll regret it if you go with H&R springs as although they are good, they're no match for coilies. I loved been able to chuck my MK5 into corners when it was on coilovers, but with springs on my MK7 it just aint the same. I had to compromise though cause of doing more mileage now!

And go with the Bluemotion front valance, i love it on Neil's silver GTi.

yeah i have decided to keep the coils, even though firm, i love the go cart like handling, gonna do the mondeo drop links, remove the adjusters, fit the blue motion valance and im nearly sure i am going to ditch my rear wiper too, as i NEVER use it, all it ever does is snag my drying towel

cheers for your input tho, great minds :D
