coughin and spluttering

like a t**t drove through a puddle the other day and eva since every so often the car coughs and splutters, when i put the gas pedal down it doesnt respond straight away????? any ideas???

probably water in the electrical system somewhere - take the distributor cap off, clean it, wd40 it. do the same with plug leads. check there isn't water where there shouldn't be.....
