revs suddenly low and cutting out

Post by l0rne »

right ..need help so badly

for the past couple of days when my car is in neutral (including between changing gears) and when stationary it suddenly cuts out 99% of the time, randomly and never stays around 1k rpm. i don't know why is doing it, the haynes manual suggests air filter, but ive also spoke to workmates and they say i might need new air filter.

in the next few days im servicing the car but just wondering if it could be anything else...e.g. something expensive...

help please! thanks

while i remember, i think you can get a cheaper tep sensor from ebay, rather than from vw (im not entirely sure because i got mine from a friend, as he had to change the thermostat housing, which conveniently for vw apparently means having to buy a package deal of a thermo and sensor as well!!! so yeah if someone could clarify this it might save you a couple a quid)

Get it from GSF or Euro. You only need a new sender and oring, and a new clip if you so wish.

If your replacing a thermostat housing, its recommended to replace the thermostat and the sender at the same time, but in this case your not doing that!
