Polo 1.4SE Auto - Misfire and Dash fault

Post by Jonesie »

I've recently bought this polo for her indoors.
When accelerating on light throttle, there is a misfire, but ok when throttle
opened up. Has anyone any ideas ?
(I'm changing the plugs and leads anyway - its a 2000 model and only done 25k,
so presume parts are original).
Went out today, and the rev counter stopped working and the oil light started flashing,
I switched off and restarted - fault had gone !
Is this a common fault ?
All replies welcome, cheers, Jonesie. :)

Probs a faulty coilpack causing the misfire

As for the dials not working - that sounds like a faulty sensor causing that, but you really need to get it plugged into a VAGCOM system to diagnose the fault code that should have been recorded.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the info - I might as well change the coil while I'm there !

Did you manage to fix this fault as mine did the same thing today and yesterday?

Revs dropped to zero and oil light was flashing. Then turn car off and start again and its fine.
