Post by Veedub9n »

Well heres my build thread of my mk6 8)

Here is how she sat a few months ago on the RXII's

Thought it was time a for a change and went out and got these

Last things changed are: ive taken rear adjusters out the back, wound the fronts down more (going down another 15mm later on in the week when arch liner is sorted)
Ive also gone back to original lights.... but are now black, instead of all chrome.

So here is how she stands to date ....until i book the car into bodyshop  (nothing OTT, but will make a huge difference)

(not the best pic of the lights)

Just needs front fog lamps and the rear tailgate lip spoiler to finish the good work off . like the alloys.

Pip you had turbos??

Car goes into bodyshop mid summer ready for car shows, so i need a rear spoiler and front splitter by then, so it can all go into paint at the same time. Im not too sure on the front fogs, im quite liking it without atm.

I like the RXII's (still got them) but hated cleaning them.

Did yours catch at the front?? Mine are 17x8's and the front drivers side catches quite a bit on the arch liner.

I was thinking about doing them silver, but alot of people said keep them the colour they are.

I nearly got borbet A's 7.5 on front and 9's on back. Was a set of six going quite cheap, but they sold, beofre i got a chance to go view them.

Then saw these about, was quite lucky in how I got them lol.

Ahh, im sorting out my arch liner on friday or this weekend and drop the front down a bit more. Run them for a while and get them refurbed, probs keeping same colour, although a few people have mentioned silver.

Car is also going into the garage next week to get the Cam belt done and 1 of the tensioners is squeaking so thats getting changed. Said it would be around £200 ish give or take. That about right??

Well it cost me just under £300 for the cam belt, water pump and all the relevant parts to be changed at Pulmans last year.

You should get the water pump changed too coz it runs off the cam belt

Phoned VW up and they said the engine ive got in mine is chain driven, so it won need to be replaced. (Gave them chasis number and they checked it all out)

Going to local garage and they are fitting a new idler pulley cos mine is squeeking like mad atm....£60 fitted.

if your getting them refurbed i'd go for silver.
or black rather than colour coded.

been looking at the pics for ages and decided with the wheels been same colour they don't stand out as much.

silver ftw!!
