Polo GT TDI Engine oil

Post by TomS »

Hi Guys

My 54 plate GT is on the long life service schedule. Just wondered if I wanted to get some oil just to keep in the car for top ups..... what oil would VW be using for the long life services?

Thanks in advance

The same oil they use for the longlife service I think, It's not cheap

My GT was on the longlife plan and I switched back to regular service intervals, works best for me because I mostly do short trips

I had used castrol magnatec 10w30 semi synthetic as an emergency top up when my light started to show orange. I don't know why the light came on as it has never used any oil since that time. I now use vw 0w/30 now and have some spare just in case it shows orange again.

For small top ups I wouldn't be fussed with the longlife, if you only are putting a small amount in then the Millers PD specific oil would be OK. I think they say this in the manual too.

As soon as you add more than a third or half a litre I'd be using the longlife again. But in reality I would just switch to the normal oil and get it changed every 12 months / 10k miles. I'm not a fan of the longlife servicing.
