Polo Fuel cut off switch

Hi I have a 2001 VW Polo 1 litre and a little while age I had a problem with the valves that caused the car to stop. these have been replaced and now have great compression, timing has been set properly but the car wont start, one thing that has been mentioned to me is that the car has a fuel cut off switch that may have been activated when the engine cut out during the original problem. Has anyone got any idea where the fuel cut off switch would be, trying to avoid massive garage costs because im getting rid of it quite soon. any ideas appreciated.
