Pedal Box issues & questions

The clutch pedal on our little polo (1.4 match) has started making an obviuos clicking sound when you press it and when you take your foot off (in the same place in the travel each time). You can feel it and hear it very noticably.

Now im assuming its pedal box issues.

Firstly, does anyone have a link to the thread with the pictures of where it breaks etc. I saw a link by searching, but it wont redirect me as its before the forum got changed over to the new style.
Is it possible to see visable damage (cracking maybe) if I look up from the footwell?? If so a rough guide as to where or what Im looking at would be cool!

Secondly, has anyone got theirs done by VW as a recall (being its not a GTI) ??

Third, How much am I looking at and a good independant garage to replace the pedal box??
