rear seat warning light

Post by joepig »

hello everyone , 2004 mk 5 polo twist 1.4 diesel turbo

I'm hopeing that someone can help me with an explanation of the dashboard warning light that says the rear seats are not in the upright locked position ,the warning comes on for about 20 seconds when the car is started and then goes out .
I've just had the car repaired after a rear end collision (new bumper and tailgate) and I know that the repairer had to go through the insde of the car to sprize open the rear tail lock ,as this fault has only just started I'm wondering if the repairer has caused the problem.
thank you for reading this and for any possible reply

Hi... I have the same car albeit totally different now. I have had that light come on occasionally when I have been taking stuff to the dump. you will need to make sure that the seats in the rear that fold down ie the back rests are located correctly at the bottom and also make sure that they are securely pushed back into their locked upright position and this should solve the warning light coming on. Other than that it could be that the switch has been moved when they were going through the back I doubt it though.
