immoboliser codes 17978 & 01176 keep coming up

I have a Year 2000 Polo 1600cc Petrol Estate S ,and when I put my genuine VAG Scanner Code Reader it keeps coming up in the engine section with error code 17978 - P1570 Engine start blocked by immobilizer . Then in the Immobilizer section Error Code 01176 Key - Sporadic Signal to low . Only thing is the car starts every time 99% of the time , just every so often it starts then stops immediately but will restart the next turn of the key . Any one any ideas please . Tony

I had this problem and it was down to my battry having a dodgy cell in it - although that unlikely

it can be down to the antenna being in slightly the wrong place (the antenna is round the ignition barrel)

Also i know that having a shed load of keys on the same key ring can cause problems.. blocks the signal ?
