black roof lining

... anyone got a clue how i can do this ???... its looking like fabric spray might be my best option... also i have a sunroof so this may make it more difficult !

Yep I've currently finished the pillars and are working on the roof.

The pillars will take spray adhesive, the roof want take so kindly.

I'm looking at probably using a tape on it next time. And the sunroof will be alot more hassle!

what do you mean by tape... ?

i met a guy who had spray glued some material onto it and his pillars looked awesome... want the name of the spray ? he gave me the can but its in my boot he said its heat protected up untill about 80 degres or somwhere near there

i love my sunroof but it dosent half cause some hassle !

the glue is called evostik, works really well fabric to plastic.

tape as in fabric tape such as wonder web, or maybe duck tape, i haven't decided yet. i've got alot of spare to toy with though which is good.

spray glue, carpet adhesive, will do, can be got from more diy stores if your old enough.....

to change the colour of your head lining, it will have to be removed, once removed, you could spray it with normal rattle tin,spray paint,think that satin black should to

duck tape, wtf are you thinking.........it will look total s**t

I think the question more is: spray paint, wtf are YOU thinking. That's fabric you'll be spraying, it would look awful!

When I was talking about duck tape, I was referring to it as a form of adhesive to this black suede fabric I already have to go on top of my roof lining. I've already tried spray adhesive, and it didnt take to well to the fabric, has stuck the pillars fine:




So instead I'm going to try some forms of tape as it seems this would probably do the trick.

it is a well known trick of the trade, when a car comes in and some t**t has cut stupid big holes in a parcel shelf, and they cannot get a second hand one the corrct colour, they use satin black spray paint to colour the material, if the car has a dark interior

secondly

duck tape, is also known as bodge tape usually 2" wide and is pretty good at sticking most things

what you are talking about, is probably double sided tape, which carpet fitters use to stick carpet down with,

i have built many a car audio system, in more cars you will ever own, and spray glue is the best way of sticking it to trim, if you read the instructions correctly and follow them it will work a treat

Paul if you want to continue using this forum, I suggest you don't personally insult other members such as myself. I'll let it slide this time. But don't do it again as it can result in a warning and a ban, simple fact.

I'm happy with using my own methods to do my own trim, as I've very succesfully done all the pillars, and are just awaiting some time spare to finish off the roof, I don't require your help (As I can see we quite clearly clash heads), was just trying to help out another member with successful methods I found out myself.

thanks for the help guys... i have a habbit of messing things like this up... badly so i will weigh up my options and then let you know which way i choose although i am leaning more towards tim's method, it just seem like less room for error...

... maybe start in the next few weeks, got some other stuff to sort out first...

Looks good mate. how did you the cream edges of the lining that are connected to the rubber seals?

the sills i used, well not me but interior place used fabric dye i believe, but the spray will work too.
