Youl need a complete TDI engine, engine loom, interior loom, clocks, immobiliser and key throttle pedal etc, youl need a 5 speed gearbox from a lower power diesel golf, the mounts are completely different, then youl have to swap over the plugs for the inerior switch's etc, immobiliser and key arnt that important as revo or AmD essex can immobiliser defeat the ECU. the conversion has been done before no more difficult than doing a 1.8t conversion realy easy 190bhp with a remap and upto 260bhp with a hyrid etc

so the 5 speed fits fine from the golf no chance of using the box thats already in the polo?
and use the standard polo shafts?

some info on here if anyone finds thread through the search

is there any build threads anyone had seen involving this ?

Get down to a breakers mate, like steves vw, and ask to have a look at both blocks out of the engine too see if they mount the same. I have always believed that the sdi is just a non turbo pd lump anyway as they look pretty similar. Its a conversion I have been thinking about even though I'm putting the 2.0l in mine. If my suspicions are right then it should be a straight swap but I can't say for defo. I'd hope it would be just a case of stripping both blocks down swapping mounts and anything else you need and running everything in new places. My main concern would probably be how much room you have for the turbo itself!

The standard polo gearbox is like chocolate & can't deal with 100bhp of 1.4 16v, so the 150+bhp of a TDI lump with the buckets of torque it produces will rip it apart.

Defo have to use the golf's gearbox! :D

CV ends need changing but you can sue the standard driveshafts. Figured that out the other day. Polos have i think its 90mm cv ends golfs use 100's. Or atleast my 2.0 box does!
