hi guys guess a thought here, iv got myself a mk4 6n polo 8v 90000 miles on the clock, iv noticed that the engine temperature gauge seems to get up to temp then start to idle up and down but not going past the normal temp (half way on gauge) its had a new thermostat in it about a year ago. anyone got any ideas??

also i notice that on my exhaust seems to drip abit of water/condensation with some smoke sometimes. now im fearing the worst e.g. cracked head, cracked block and not so bad head gasket. need some help asap on that.

cheers

How quick does the needle move side to side? If it's slow then it probably is the thermo OR the fact the days are getting colder now so its messing it around.

Can't remember but I recall hearing that water/condensation out the back is a sign your engines running clean! Find out first before taking my word for it lol.

maybe the temp sensor? my boyfriend and I brought a 6n recently R plate on 44k miles
the tempreture gauge doesnt move its just stuck at the bottom. we're about to put a new temp senor on hopefully that will work. its light a little thing that costs around £10.
might be yours is faulty to which is causing yours to go up and down. :?

how much have you driven the car and how much was it driven before you got it?
if its not been used much recently give it a good couple of revs should blow all the water out hopefully.

hoping all is ok and its not anything worse!

yeah iv noticed that the water out the back of the exhaust is only when i start it up but when it gets warm its fine, i think it cud be the termostat.
