For most parts that need replacing due to poor quality etc
Most people on here say they go to a VW dealer.
Is it that simple to walk into a dealer, say what you want and they will get it off the shelf, pay and walk away within 5 minutes?
Or have you got to fill out forms and wait 2 weeks for them to order it in.?
Im on about things like interior grab handles and splitters, spoilers etc.
Dealers.

Re: Dealers.
That's exactly what you do.
Go to the parts desk explain to the parts man what you need (they like it if you have the part number handy so they don't have to do any searching - If you don't, they'll search for the part that you want using ETKA) they ask you for your reg.. they'll then tell you if they have any in stock - If they don't, they'll order it for you and let you know when it arrives.
At my local dealer I don't have to pay for the item until it arrives - Don't know if that's the same for anywhere else??
But there's no forms to fill in at all. Generally parts tend to take maybe about 1-2 days to arrive.

Cars of our age WILL DEFINATLY NOT be in stock, they always have to order parts in, if its something like spark plugs then yes but trims etc normally do as there is little demand for them, but yes just walk in and tell them what you want!

Re: Dealers.
I went to a dealer yesterday for a brake light switch. It depends on the part you want whether they have stock.
Went you drive in you will have a sign for showroom, trade parts and servicing. goto to trade parts.
walk in, and just say to the guy what you want. he will ask for your reg.
mine then walked upto this computer touch pad thingy and hit a few keys and then this large conveyor belt of boxes started rotating until he got to my part, took the part out, gave the money and he gives me receipt too.

I ordered the handles, but did have to pay at time of order though. Came in about 4 days later.
