Broken Window Regulator...

The other day entering a car park I was winding (yes, winding ) down my window and heard a bit of a snapping sound and then heard something rattle inside the door... as i parked, i went to wind the window back up and found it incredibly stiff. I managed to get the window up and decided i'd have a look behind the door card the next day.

On further inspection, I found a snapped and frayed cable and a bit of rubber tubing that looked like it once connected to the regulator. I can't really see a way of fixing it without replacing it.

Now, replacing the regulator doesn't seem like a huge job according to the Haynes manual (nothing usually does though) and I was wondering, would it be a hard job upgrading to electric windows or would the wiring just be a nightmare? If so, does anyone have a manual regulator they can sell me?

electric window upgrade = almost impossible nightmare. I was going to do it in mine, got all the parts, and then realised it just wasnt possible as its all mixed in with the interior loom!

Replace with wind up windows electric windows are more expensive when they break.

Is it hard to replace? and does anyone have any idea how much a regulator would cost me?

That does sound like an absolute 'mare. Best not to mess with wiring unless you're sure of what you're doing I suppose.

my drivers side regulator has gone too... but i have electric windows considering its winter im not gonna fix it yet as i rarely use it and heard its really expensive, although it is annoying having to open my door to get out the car park my gym is in every day

They are pretty easy to fix - if you get the regulator out, you can generally fix the problems with them
