2001 1.0 litre 65000miles plugs changed August 2008
The engine light came on this morning while my son was on his way to work.
The RAC plugged the computer in and established it was misfiring on No.1 cylinder.
I drove the car home 5 miles, and it seemed to be running slightly better than you would expect from continuous 3 cylinders.
Of the three items it might be ... coil pack, No. 1 lead or No.1 plug ... which do you think is most likely ... or is there something else it might be?
Do coil packs usually fail on more than one cylinder?
Thanks
Ray

Re: Misfire on No.1 cylinder
Could just be the lead - have a look at the lead whilst it happens. I had a customer in the other day, and one of their leads had split and was arcing to the cylinder head.
Re: Misfire on No.1 cylinder
Thank you Alex,
After checking the leads I removed No.1 plug to find the porcelain cracked around the electrode.
Fitted a new set of plugs now back to normal.
Cheers

No thanks Alex,
I managed to get a non original but perfectly good copy from a firm in Doncaster.
I’ll put the telephone number on the other thread.
