Remote central locking. How easy to fit?

Post by polo_mad »

Hi everyone, about to order a remote central locking kit. As the barrel is about to go on the driver's side!
Are they hard to fit? and is there a guide on here at all? would be very handy.
cheers.

Do you already have central locking in your car? If so, its dead easy...just a few wires to connect to the pump in the boot and the indicators at the back :)

Took me 20 minutes to fit. The longest job was feeding the indicator cable to the other side of the car.

I fitted it in the panel in the boot nex to the central locking pump, easy access (was needed recently when one of the keys died and I got a replacement).

my rclick thingy has stopped working !, if i press lock or unlock on the key then the devise makes the clicking noise but isnt activating the pump... i never attached it to ythe indicators as i wasnt really sure on what i was doing.

do i need to send it back or is it a simple solution... ?

fuse is fine, its earthed my amp in my boot so thats fine lol and the yellow and yellow/black are connected... so i really dont get it !

oh i should point out... it did used to work just randomly stopped but the blue flashing light is still working and flashing away

sounds like a faulty controller box. Where did you take the live from for it?

try a different earth and live - perhaps piggy back onto the central locking pump wiring (thats where I would connect it permanently anyhow)

Yes, it is very easy!

How ever i too have come to it not working.

It only works some times?

It will ALWAYS unlock.

But some times it wont lock.

Im thinking of re-installing it with different connectors. Maybe block terminal connectors.

As red said, it will click, but it wont do any thing.

Check the central locking pump by drivers door, in the inside of the drivers footwell for any air leaks...

it wouldnt be an air leak, because it works fine with the key.

And when the fob works, it works great to. But some times nothing happens other then the one flash of turn signals.
