Decent Coilies for a 9n/3?

Post by Karson3270 »

Just came across some coilies for my 9N3: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COILOVER-VW-POLO- ... 2c52835c39

I'm a student still and I am skint as you can imagine. Would these do the job?

Thanks

How hard are they to fit. I'm new to performance tuning as I am a stylist :P Could I get them fitted at a tyres garage? How much would it cost?

Thanks

Damn theyre cheap!! i fitted some ta technix to mine about six months ago, me and my dad(AA man) struggled to get the vw suspension off.

make sure youve got some hss drill bits cause i had to bore out the alli cones that sit at the top of the front struts and you will need shorter arb links. dont mean to scare you! a days work between two of you. heres the link we followed, they make it look so easy!! http://www.clubpolo.co.uk/forum/lofiver ... 33943.html

not sure how much it would cost but i doubt a tyre place would do them.

Soak the low part of the struts in penetrating oil a day before you try this. Took me 2 hours per front side to release the strut clamp. Best to get a fixed amount agreed with a local garage IMO!

Agree with this.

Passenger side was pretty easy, seriously struggled with the drivers side!

Hmm yeah, if I hadn't have read the comments from you guy's I may well have attempted this myself and fu**ed myself over maybe! :P Thanks guys. But would you recommend these coilies? I don't want them for performance wise. I only want them to lower my front about 40mm and my back about 60mm. Would this do the trick?

May I ask why most people on here have the front lowered less than the back or vice versa? Does that not mean the car will be pointing up or down?

I'm a student too so I know how you feel....loads of plans....not so much money :D Your insurance will also go up too!
