Headlining re-trim

Post by spudisdabest »

i have a sunroof model, and i know its covered lots but not specifically for sunroof models. 2 questions:

control unit for the electric sunroof, how do i remove it to get the headlining out?
pillars, do these just prise off?

a walkthrough for a 6n2 would be fantastic if anybody knows of one, thanks!

ps. quick replies would be good as im hoping to fetch it out tomorrow!

It won't be a rushed job as I don't mind driving around without a liner for a few days just need that bit of info before I start

With removing all parts is easy, other then ive never tried it with the sunroof model.

But remove all handles, lights, pillars, rubber seals, visors etc

To remove the panel, i believe its the case of prying it off.

retrimmed the headlining in a different fabric. many people do it, but only a handful have done it to a sunroof model

Nice one mate! How are you going to go about doing the sunroof slideing cover an handle?

Also, did you boot have to be empty to remove the c pillars?

its relatively easy. i was a bit aprehensive to begin with as ive never done anything like this before.

as for the sunroof cover im still a bit bewildered as how to do it. i didnt remove the c pillars completely i just removed the top clips and slid the headlining forward then back out of the boot.

So with the roof lining out, can you remove the sunroof cover?
Or is there something else in the way?

Im off to VW now, so ill ask them about the sunroof cover handle.

Because i dont want to pry it off, and find out its glued! lol

you cant SEE any fixing from the underside. i think you would be able detatch it but it would be a case of removing the whole sunroof unit to get to the fixings which in my eyes aint worth the ball ache.
