cleaning the car today and because my central locking pump died i open the doors manually. so i go over to the passenger side and put the key in, hang on this seems abit loose, i look down and as i am taking the key out the whole barrel comes out too! has this ever happended to anyone? easy fix? i think i can see a point on the barrel where its been sheared off. ive incased it in sellotape so none of the pins fall out.
there are some fragile clips inside the lock (not the barrel) that hold the barrel fixed. remove the handle and point out which clip is broken. it is a little nifty job to put all the bits together because of the spring, better of following the other lock to assemble it (I have just went through it). if I manage to fix ETKA I'll take a screen shot of the part that is most probably broken. just pray the barrel is not broken because it is a costly part and do not loose the small metal parts that go up with the key because they slide easily.
