fuel pressure regulator

has anyone fitted an after market FPR? I am thinking of doing so because I am finding the 1.0mpi to suffer from flat spots especially when I press the throttle suddenly! the problem is that the standard FPR is integrated into the fuel rail so I think it cannot be removed or it will leave a hole! any help pls people?
