'Vanilla Ice' Matt.G's 6N2 - Update - new pictures!

Post by Matt.G »

Hello, I'm new here and hope i've posted in the right bit. I'm Matt :)

right! well i've had my Polo since October last year as i was previously driving a MK2 Golf, which tragically set on fire with me in it!

So same day was feeling pretty bad and bought myself a Polo 6N2. It's only a 1.0, completely poverty spec, and only had 44,000 miles on it, tidy.

Image

So i got cracking and bought some coilies and some Compomotive TH Monos (8"s all round and 195/45 et25)..

Image

Took the 'Polo' badge off, sprayed my badges black and de-wipered. (Because I'm so original)!

Image

My parents also bought me some private plates and got them pressed, which left it looking like this..

Image

Image

I also bought a 6K HID Kit with white LED sidelights...

Image

Interior wise, it was pretty dull standard, it has the half grey / half black dash, and grey carpets, with grey seats with blue centres. Pretty dire, agreed!

I then bought some Alfa 147 Red leather interior to be put in, but as i am still a student time is limited and was too much ball ache to fit. I then sold them and purchased some Seat Ibiza Cupra interior which was literally straight fit. It works really well in my opinion as it seems subtle!? ish?

Some fairly recent pictures of how Vanilla Ice stands...

Last picture of the Polo on the Compomotives...

My car is now sat like this.. haha

Image

Plans include...
  • GTI Splitter
  • Stubby aerial
  • smoothed bootlid and maybe bumpers
  • Retrim pillars and headlining
  • New wheels...
  • momo team 300
  • spray engine cover
  • and other bits!
Picking up new wheels on Saturday :D .. Update Saturday, perhaps.

Credits to All the photographers of these pictures, Andrew Thompson, ABM Chris, and Chris Rice. Top job. :)

Comments welcome, Cheers! Matt

Really Nice car mate, I like what you have done with it so far.

Sounds like some pretty nice changes coming up too. I love the rolling shots.

MONO Comps look awesome on the 6N2. Keep us all updated with the progress

Mwahaha. I have spent far too much money today. Lol.

So i woke up at half 6, left at 7 with Old Man G, and got to Swindon for 8:15. Waited about 10 mins and the guys pulled up. Really sound guys, telling me about there huge Jap scene up in Milton Keynes, but i represented us guys and told him how it is. Uh.

As you may / may not know: OZ TURBOS 7.5" all round with 165/55/15 on the rear and new 165/50/15 on the front.

Anyways, got them home, and they were in need of a dire polish. (not po-lish, polish). AND 2 new tyres as the front two were literally bare, so went staright into town to get some 165/50's for the front two, and only found one set. I'm getting those back tomorrow, hopefully stretched and done. Expensive mind :/

So the guy gave me some insanely good Polisher...
Image

And as you can see the dishes had some stains on them...
Image

So i got to work, half done and half not done...
Image

Mid clean...
Image

These are the rear wheels, 7.5 running 165/55/15...
Image

Finished product

So then i thought i'd quickly wack them both on one side of the car (these are meant to be both the rear wheels)
Image
Image

I was happy how the rear actually sat, quite flush and room to go lower, due to the stretch..
Image
Image

Although, (it may not seem it), but the fronts were tucking quite a bit, which i wasn't feeling.. so i bought some 15mm hubcentric spacers...
Image

Which made it look a bit fatter and a lot better 'flushnous' if i want to go lower...
Image
Image

Soo mee hope you like them, any thoughts?

I'm CHuffed with a kapital CH. :D

Hi there buddy, cheers for the comments :)

Well i don't know exactly what i have spent but i have spent quite a bit on the car, i bought it for £2700, coilies £230, interior £250, wheels + spacers + tyres £900,headunit £150, speakers etc £100+ and private plates... so quite a bit..

I sanded down my badges then sprayed them! Only a quick jobby, but looks real good when you do it! Don't hold back!
