SERVICING YOUR NEW POLO.....

Post by ShannonSide »

1,Does the servicing have to be done by the dealer where you purchased ?
2, are you allowed to go to any V W dealer in the country where you purchased ?
or 3,Can you go anywhere in Europe ?
thx in advance.

1. No
2. Yes
3. Id have thought so. As long as they use genuine/approved parts, warranty would be intact.

We've bought the 3yr service for £250. This can be undertaken at any VW dealers.

Is this actually a good deal? My Polo's first service is due in 2 years or 30,000kms (or 18645 mles)...

The service plan is
12 months/10,000 miles - Oil change service
24 months/20,000 miles - Interval service (including oil change)
36 months/30,000 miles - Inspection service (including oil change) and brake fluid change

It appears to be a good deal.

According to the service book (in German) that came with my Spanish-built Polo 1.4 petrol, it has 'Long-life' service common to most VW models. This states:

every 30,000kms (approx 19,000miles) - change oil filter & change pollen & dust filter
every 60,000kms (approx 38,000miles) - as above plus oil change including DSG box and change air filter
additionally every 2 years change break fluid.

There are additional spoecifications for LPG and diesel models. And the recommended service intervals continue in an optomistic manner right up to "every 300,000kms".

The car came with a litre container of Castrol SLX long-life oil just in case...

We do about 10,000mls per year. So this service package seems appropriate. I think you can opt for the long life service or interval at any time.
