Carbs for 1.3 Polo

Post by Saint Jimi »

I have had my 1300 polo one the emissions tester earlier today and found the HC to be way too high (1000 - 2000) and CO2 also way over, in fact everything way way over and I had little luck getting it down by adjusting the mixture screw. Also the Idle speed screw seems to do very little in the way of adjusting the idle speed. Currently it's all the way in so I would expect it to idle at way over 2000, but instead idles at around 1200-1300 RPM.

With all this in mind I have come to the conclusion that the old Pierburg 2e3 has had it. So I have been looking into getting a weber for it.

I have come across a couple of rather pricey options, there is

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-POLO-1272cc-19 ... arParts_SM for £267

or

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-1272cc-19 ... arParts_SM for £257

and as far as I can make out they are exactly the same, but a whole lot of cash.

I have also come across a Weber 34 ICH Carb for Volkswagen Golf 1.3 - Would this go onto my 2g engine as this is considerably cheaper?

Any help would be great cheers.

stick a post up on polo3.co.uk mate. They are much more following of the mk1-3 models on there and youll probably get a weber for peanuts!
