Urgent Help Needed Please!

Post by reidy81 »

After some thieving little sod breaking into my car last night and knicking al they could get there hands on i am having to replace the rear passenger quarter window!!! I have been told its not easy. I have the replacement window but to fit it you need to take the whole window off the winder. The problem i face is i have all th door card off ok but cant work out how to remove the window off the winder (ie the plastc clip thing holding the window to the mechanism,

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

You need to undo the two goldish coloured bolts on the clamps each side of the window mechanism. Normally you have to get the winders to a certain level so you can access the bolts. Then its just a case of clearing out the remainder of the glass, then dropping the new glass in from the outside side and retightening the clamps when its in place

Hey mate, Sorry about the break in, I know how you feel I had mine done before summer. A 1 month old radio gone, sat nav holder from the glovebox and a swiss army knife and a beautiful aux cable (honestly it was) plus glass everywhere!

DIdn't your insurance cover your glass? I'm with Direct line and they replaced one passenger side window (3dr) and one heated rear window for £75 not affecting premium or no claims.

sorry to hear about the break in! my car was broken into last month, and Im still wanna kill the little sods. plus i still find a random bit of glass here and there.

like said above what about you insurance?

I to am with directline, who put me thru to Autoglass. they were utterly brilliant with me. got the bit of glass specially ordered in for me, so i could have it fixed same day. and the glass wasnt quite right (the bend in it was slightly out) so they ordered in another bit from VW, which has just gone in. only took them 10 mintues to do it all. no hasstle ;)

Verity, same mate, the other day I was in the back cleaning the seats when I looked down and my knee had blood on it. You've got to look out for those little tiny shards of glass they're evil, the big square ones are fine mostly.
