ESP turns itself off when I start driving?

Post by BennoGTi »

I have created a problem for myself, I have somehow managed to kill my ESP?

When I move off from stationary, the ESP light on the instrument panel flashes then stays on, the switch for the ESP also lights up "Off"

Anyone have any ideas what I have done?

It started after I installed my cruise control, which is not enabled yet, maybe I have knocked a connector or something for the ESP? :-(

I have checked the fuses for the ESP and ABS, both of which are fine

Thanks for any help

Give yer brake callipers a good blast with the hose then hammer on the anchors a few times should clear the sensor

Check your MAF :) the ESP comes on when the MAF is faulty

I'll whip the wheels off when I get home from work and give the callipers a blast

How do I check the MAF sensor? For the likes of blockages?

Cheers

Yes mate, It turned out to be the steering angle sensor was out from when I had the wheel off doing my cruise control

Just took the wheel off and spun the slip ring round a turn and put the wheel back on, checked it with VAG COM and all was ok

Been fine ever since :)

Ahh, shait.

I just changed my steerign wheel, so it's the same problem.. However, mine is like tilted 50-60degrees to the left xD

Fix it tomorrow.. Any tips how to get it perfect..?

There are marks scribed onto both the steering column and the wheel itself that you can use to line it up. At the twelve o clock position. Not too clear but they are definitely there.
